This morning as I was doing the weekly Monday-morning-straightening-up routine, I got excited about my beautiful new house. I don't think this kitchen will transform me into a Martha Stewart, but maybe the process will be a bit less of a drag. Anyway, as I was reflecting on the beauty around me I got to thinking about the part our Bookmobile librarians played in it. Susie & Joan toted around hundreds of pounds of idea books for about 8 months as I planned & designed. I think their efforts paid off handsomely. Give them a round of applause!
We feel good about our progress in the last week.
* I got the piles in the office filed.
* The carpet in the Walk-in was installed Friday, so we started assembling the closet system and can soon move all our clothes over from the old bedroom.
* We brought the washer & dryer up from the basement Saturday, so I am using my new Laundry today. :)
* We also put up some plastic for a temporary shower curtain so we can use our Master Bath shower while waiting for the correct size of shower door to come in. From the time it was installed I thought the shower control looked upside down. Now we find out it really is. You turn the handle to snowflake for hot water and sunshine for cold. What a howl.
* Oh, and the countertop people came back to install the missing piece of backsplash and fix the chip in the bar.
I found out first-hand Saturday evening what a large undertaking floor-mopping will be now compared to what we had before.
This week we need to work on emptying the bedrooms. We expect the living room will become a furniture warehouse of sorts while the bedrooms are being remodeled. The boys will camp out in the basement and Arianna probably will have a bed & clothes rack in the center of the largest bedroom for a few weeks. Time for our little pack rats to get along without so much "stuff".
