6 months later

Here are a few pictures I took to show what stage we were at on Dec 31.
This is the view from the living room. Since then all the underlayment is down in the kitchen, dining room, hall, pantry, and laundry -ready to put in the vinyl tomorrow morning.

We had a volunteer from our church family come Saturday morning to do trim work. What a blessing! He put trim in the children's bath and around the kitchen & living room windows. We've also had some generous folks sharing Christmas cookies, cinnamon rolls and even a whole meal recently.

This is the window seat & bookshelves in the Master Bedroom, with our lovely purple walls that everyone likes. We decided to go with that shade on all 4 walls. I hope to try stenciling a border in a clear glaze. The Master Bedroom furniture is scheduled to be delivered on Thursday, so I want the carpet in before then.

The latest prediction is that we will be moving in the addition by next week this time. There are a number of things that need to come together -plumbing tied in, electrical hook-ups, and flooring, but it's do-able. I am on the home stretch with painting. There is the Pantry and Master Bath left, plus topcoat on the Master Bedroom and figuring out how to apply the Brushed Pearl in the Walk-in without it looking like a kid made a mess.
There is some concern about the high humidity but our opinion is that it will go down when the furnace is hooked up and we have active heat in the addition.

Who says you always run behind schedule and over budget? From the git-go our goal was to move in by New Years. We managed to move in one room on schedule. :) The office. (I put up the border yesterday and did some cleaning so I need to take a current picture to post.) We're under budget... yet.

We had some friends from Plain City stop in for a tour on Saturday and they claim the blog pictures don't do justice. So for all those of you who "need to get over there sometime to see your house" maybe it's time. Last chance to see our basement apartment!

Six months may seem like a long time but there are advantages too. You didn't have to houseclean in 2008 because everything was going to be torn apart, and you won't have to houseclean this spring either because everything is new.
