'Done' is a relative term

A correction on the last post- we were actually in 2 rooms on schedule. I failed to mention the Children's Bath.
Something that comes up often in conversation is "when the house is done". Done is a relative term. At what point do you say you are done? For example we are moved into the office but we do not have any decorations or curtains up yet. The Master Bedroom is "done" but we have not moved into it yet because we're lacking bedding and curtains. (Purple definitely is not an 'in' color right now and we don't live near a metropolitan area with a multitude of stores, so I don't know how soon that move will happen.)
We have not moved up into the new kitchen this weekend due to waiting on the countertops. The company that makes them didn't want to bring the kitchen countertops until the Master Bath vanity top & tub deck are also ready -the hold-up being waiting on a custom color from their supplier. Last we heard, those things will come on Tuesday. Making it exactly 4 months in the basement. One of the children voiced the sentiment of us all "It seems much longer than that."
The 3 major accomplishments this week- we now have electricity in the whole house (yeah! good-bye extension cords) with the fuse panel moved into the basement, the new furnace and the duct work to the addition connected (yeah! heat in the whole house for the first time) and floor coverings installed. All the flooring is in except for the walk-in closet and the living room, which we will not have done until the bedrooms are remodeled.
As everything has been coming together lately it seemed to be just what I wanted and everything coordinated well. It was almost too good to be true. How can everything turn out perfect? The "magic" ended with the Master Bedroom. In my opinion the carpet & paint do not go together. The walls are purple and the carpet is more of a plum. Richard thinks it looks OK because they are separated by white trim. I am wavering between repainting or leaving it as it is. Another thing is that the room looks unbalanced on account of us changing the window seat to the west wall instead of the south. I don't regret the switch because the view is nicer. With a tall headboard and the placement of doors & windows, there is only 1 possible location for the bed. Paired with 2 nightstands, the furniture looked squashed together onto 2 walls. And a tiny detail is the gold hardware on the bookshelves doesn't go with the dark hardware on the nightstands (we hadn't found a bedroom suite yet when we picked the hardware).
All in all, I think everything is coming together nicely. As soon as the countertops are in I have a lot of cleaning to tackle this week.
