You are looking at the skeleton of our former kitchen (R) & living room (L). The dark brown door you see in the background was removed from the hall closet and framed into the hallway to close off the bedrooms. This should help the "shivering in our beds syndrome" we've been experiencing, as well as keep some of the dirt out. After several asthma- free years, Jeremy experienced an attack this week, so dust control is a concern.
You cannot see it from this angle, but what used to be our back door is now the basement door, effectively sealing off the basement living quarters from dirt. Well, sort of.
And here is the birthday girl! We treated her classmates to an ice cream cake.
