There is no one quite as comforting as one's own parents to bail you out when you get in over your head!
I had a really bad week last week- worst case of insomnia, followed by dizziness, coupled with pressure to finish painting by Thursday. I was barely functioning anymore when my mom called Wednesday evening to inquire about coming out for the weekend. Just knowing help was on the way got me through Thursday and Friday. Fortunately mom's little detour to ER didn't put her out of commission for Saturday.
The last of the trim work was done Friday and the rest of the carpet was supposed to be installed Saturday. Very disappointing to find a serious flaw in the living room carpet. It has to be replaced. At least the living room is cleared of furniture and paint cans and tools that resided there for the last 3 months; it looks more like a living area again. The carpet was installed in the guest room and we moved the furniture in, although it still needs cleaned. We're almost equipped to handle company again.
Cooking has been my biggest challenge lately, so mom was installed in the kitchen all day. Dad helped out here and there with those little jobs that eat up so much time. By Saturday night I finally felt like I was back on track. Thanks Mom & Dad S.
The highlight of last week was the fresh strawberries from FL compliments of my in-laws, transported by M & A. We enjoyed strawberry pie and strawberry trifle. Thanks Mom & Dad M.
We went to the local Home Show Friday evening to check out landscaping companies. Our lawn needs some major TLC after all the heavy trucks that drove through it. We also need flower beds and walkways. We like to see nicely landscaped homes but it's not our 'cup of tea' to create them. After a year off, we're actually eager for gardening again. That feeling is helped along by the fact that we are running out of all varieties of home grown veggies.
I intend to sort through boxes in the basement this week. It seems that if we could manage without those things for 6 months or more, we probably don't need them. I hope to downsize our pile of "stuff" and seriously restrict what the children move back into their bedrooms. It will be a short week since we intend to go to the truck show in KY Friday & Saturday.

I would have really liked to come along with Pop & Mom this weekend, but it was short notice, and I had already made a few plans. I'd like to get out there again sometime, and see all of what you've done. Maybe some other time. Maybe soon?
I had no idea you felt so bad. I'm sorry.
Your mother told me about that flaw, what a pain!
Are we ever going to have a face to face conversation again? Why don't we ever sit beside one another in church? It's weird that I heard your latest news from your mother who lives in PA, for pity's sake! :)
Have fun at the truck show...
My mom and dad just arrived this evening to "bail us out". Wonderful to have parents who love us enough to do this. And other family members as well, in our case...
Now you know all our latest and since we both love phone conversations so much this will have to do for now.
Love you!
whew, sorry about the epistle there.
