Things Are Taking Shape

I had intentions of posting updates daily once framing started, but now internet service is not working at our house. So I'll update occasionally at the office, although I cannot add pictures from here.
Aug. 6 & 7 -subfloor installed A difficult decision over whether to sink the tub in the master bath was made.
Aug. 8 -all the rooms were marked off on the floor and we made a few adjustments before leaving for the weekend (cabin in PA with my family)...

Aug. 11- We expected to see one wall up when we came home. It was put together but not raised into place. That day about 1/2 the walls were put in place.
Aug. 12 -All the exterior walls were in place and some of the interior walls. I made a time-consuming decision on a window for the master bath -my original choice was too pricey. (We spent the night in Plain City to give us a head-start the next morning. Richard got a para-plane ride with a friend there.)
Aug. 13 -Family Day with the Millers -at the Creation Museum. Enjoyable day. Got home late in the evening to find a few of the trusses in place.
Aug. 14 -What an adventure! Everyone in this area who has been praying for rain got their answer; I guess those of us who were praying it holds off a little longer were outnumbered. It rained & rained earlier in the summer until we wondered if it would ever dry off in time to start excavating. The rain stopped just in time. This was the first rain we've had since we're building.
Seemed to come at the worst possible time- the exterior kitchen walls which are going to be removed are stripped bare but the roof wasn't covered yet. We got 2 downpours in the afternoon. We had water pouring into the kitchen... under the baseboard, around windows & doors, through electrical sockets, etc. We spent quite a bit of time removing rainwater from the subfloor with brooms & squeegees. There is sticky red mud everywhere that is getting tracked in the addition and the kitchen -no way to prevent it. We found out that the sealer on the crawlspace is doing it's job because we had [muddy] water standing around the foundation. With all the damage control going on, I was running a little late fixing supper. Then the electric went off! Being limited in what we could do, Richard thought it would be a good time to clean up the construction scrap outside. Of course, we got all muddy in the process. We didn't know if we'd be able to clean up before going to bed, but the electric came back on at 9:30. It was off for 3.5 hours.
The roof should be 'blacked in' by day's end. We will be emptying the kitchen & living room later today, setting up temporarily in the basement.

So that's why nothing was posted. I said last evening either nothing is happening or too much is happening that we haven't heard a word. Good to know there has been progress.

Oohh...I thought the electricity being off affected us, but I guess your story is worse! =) AND had I known what all you were dealing with I wouldn't have been so happy for the rain!
What DID you decide about the tub. You didn't give it up did you????? =)

The end decision was to leave the tub at floor level rather than dropping it into the floor. We'll have to stick with a lower tub so it's not awkward to get into- my original concern, since I plan to have a deck around the tub for candles, flowers, rolled towels & such.
We decided on an arched window over the tub instead of a circle top. In hind sight, I believe it will look better with the spanish arch in front of the tub, besides being a little cheaper.
